If you get the error message - "Can't open the illustration. Could not complete the requested operation" but still get a preview image all is not lost. Where as before you would need to redraw the file if you open a new document, place the image and then embed it this should open the file back to it's original state. I hope this helps. It has just saved me having to redraw 2 months worth of work so hopefully someone else can benefit as well. Mark |

I have had this same error message come up when I open my Illustrator 11.0 on Windows XP. It happens when I open application alone as well as try to open an Illustrator file or an eps. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times with little or no success. I gave up and got the upgrade for CS3. Is it possible that the 11.0 is now a completely corrupted application? Any advice, suggestions? Mark. papascribble@yahoo.com

I have CS4, but don't remember ever getting that in CS3 so you should be safe. I remember getting that error a few times, but I am pretty sure I was also using CS. Thanks,
Josh |
