Clipping mask issues

i found a solution to it yday which has nothing to do with a trim/merge feature.  But i was hoping there was another way to do it.  My method is a lil more complex if you have a lot of anchor points for an object, its time consuming to do it. But the end result is pretty much a clean edge though be it a black background or not.

	I understand. It's kind-of a glitch in Illustrator. Because the black in the back exists, it wants to show it. It's the way it interprets data. There's really nothing you can do about it, but if you do the merge/trim feature AFTER you apply the gradient, it adjusts the gradient to how you had it set previously. Try it. You may have to hide the gold then delete the portion that's behind it, don't remember. Edited by JBHoke - 27/Feb/2012 at 9:11pm

	Why should one have to do a trim or anything of that sort while doing a clipping mask? The whole point is you should be able to a mask and not see that jagged edge be it whatever dark background and yet it still shows.

	I get what you're saying if i knockout the black from behind the yellow, then that is basically leaving a gap behind the yellow. Now if you wanted to give the black circle a radiant fill and then a transparent mask on top to show some gloss . the part underneath the yellow wouldn't transition well because there's nothing underneath it! we did a trim in the beginning!

	You're missing my point. Don't overlap the objects. Use the "merge" or "trim" features from your pathfinder to knock-out the black from behind it. It also applies the clipping mask. Look at it afterward and see if it still has the black outline. Edited by JBHoke - 27/Feb/2012 at 8:49pm

	Just take an ellipse, put a fill of yellow, then do another ellipse in black on top of the yellow and do a clipping mask. You'll see the jagged lines.

	Upload the file and let me take a look at it. I believe it's the back item showing from behind the gold one. You can always do a merge on the item to apply the clipping mask and see if they're still there.

	makes no difference if you turn of anit-alias in preferences or under raster effects. When you export it, the jagged lines are still visible. This sounds like a bug in Adobe.

	try to turn off anti-aliasing in Preferences.

	hi Anyone seen this when doing a clipping mask? You see the rough edges? How do you resolve this? Can you point out some steps to resolve this? It looks like an illustrator bug or some issue but what is the way to get rid of those rough edges around the yellow circle?
